Josh's plan for house district 1
Practical priorities. conservative Texas values.
Border security
Texas must take strong, coordinated action to secure the border and protect rural communities. Josh will fight for tougher state enforcement, better intelligence sharing, and targeted support for sheriffs and local departments who patrol large areas with limited manpower. He will back laws that disrupt trafficking networks and hold fentanyl dealers fully accountable when their actions take a life.
property tax relief
Families deserve a tax system that lets them truly own their homes. Josh will push for lasting property tax relief, clearer notices that show rate times value, tighter appraisal practices, and strong protections for agricultural and timber exemptions that keep working land productive. He believes relief should be real, responsible, and felt by homeowners, farmers, and landowners across the district.
Protecting land & water
Josh will stand with landowners and fight out-of-region projects that benefit metro areas at the expense of our communities. He will work to advance reliable water solutions tied to Wright Patman Lake and the regional facility at TexAmericas Center, protect private property from condemnation, and support conservation practices that strengthen local supply without placing unfair burdens on rural families.
roads & Transportation
Safe, reliable transportation is essential for families, freight, and industry. Josh will press TxDOT to widen I-30 to the Arkansas line, modernize the Texarkana interchanges, replace aging bridges, and move forward on four-lane improvements to US 82 and US 271. He will insist on early utility coordination, so projects stay on schedule, and measure success in reduced crashes and shorter drive times
broadband expansion
High-speed internet is the new farm-to-market road, and too many homes and small businesses still lack it. Josh will work to direct state and federal broadband funds to the real gaps in Cass, Morris, and other underserved areas. He will demand accountability from providers so last-mile builds result in actual, reliable service at the gate and not just updated coverage maps.
Jobs, industry & workforce
House District 1 makes things, grows things, and supports national security. Josh will fight to strengthen the mission at Red River Army Depot, support timber and forestry producers, and advance infrastructure that helps manufacturing stay competitive. He will partner with local colleges to expand welding, CDL, lineworker, industrial maintenance, and advanced manufacturing programs so students can earn certifications that lead directly to strong paychecks close to home.
Stronger schools
Rural schools anchor community life, and their success determines the strength of small towns. Josh will work to raise the Basic Allotment so districts can keep the lights on and hire and retain quality teachers. He will back strong discipline, academic focus, parental involvement, dual credit, and CTE programs that allow students to graduate with credentials that match local job needs.
public safety
Human trafficking and fentanyl move through Northeast Texas corridors, and stopping them requires coordinated enforcement. Josh will fight to ensure sheriffs, police departments, and prosecutors have the tools they need to use Texas’s newest criminal statutes. He will work to strengthen cooperation between local agencies, DPS, schools, and the regional hospital to keep families safe.
economic development
Josh will champion strategic, locally driven growth that protects working land and builds long-term opportunity. He will support manufacturing, agriculture, timber, and defense-related industries and push for infrastructure investments that strengthen rural communities. His approach is simple: invest in projects that create jobs, protect natural resources, and reflect the values of Northeast Texas.
Conservative values
Josh is a Christian, pro-life, pro-Second Amendment conservative who believes service, family, and faith define public leadership. He will defend religious liberty, support the rights of law-abiding Texans to protect their families and land, and stand firm for the conservative principles that guide Northeast Texas.
